Facebook has a job listing up to hire a SEO or SEM engineer. I am not sure why it says SEO or SEM, why not SEO & SEM or SEO only or SEM only because the job description seems very SEO oriented.
The deal is, this is a highly technical SEO. This SEO needs to know how to "create web applications using primarily Hack" and "implement web interfaces using XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript." The requirements are pretty high as well:
- B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field
- Experience with Perl, PHP, Hack, or Python
- Experience with big data technologies
- Experience with web technologies: XHTML, JavaScript
- Experience with C, C++
- Min 2 years experience doing in house SEO at a major internet company dealing with sites with >10MM and ideally >100MM pages
- Min 6 years total experience in software engineering
- Experience dealing with SEO in multiple languages and ideally experience working with Naver/Yahoo Japan/Yandex as well as Google
- Ability to apply business strategy to user experiences and analytical models
@dohertyjf wisely said "so basically there are 5-10 people in the US who fit that description," I'd hope that is not the case.
